It's surprising how little you actually need, and as you point out, how little more you need for a 3 week trip than you do for an overnight trip. I don't backpack much but my bikepacking checklist is pretty much the same regardles

I had a chance to visit David Rumsey and his map collection (which this map is a part of) at his home in 2013. The breadth of that collection and this man's dedication to maps is fantastic. This is a picture of his 2013 digitizing setu

I just read that the Austrian national railway is planning to re-introduce them and was surprised. Europe had a pretty decent overnight train network in the 90s and even into the 2000s. Then flying got cheap and people basically didn't

I'm confused about the return policy, on the glossy ordering web site it say 7 days / 1000 miles, but on the T&C page it says 3 days / 500 miles. It's an interesting policy regardless. In sounds like it's pretty

I quite like the design philosophy behind the Punkt phones. It looks like the MP01 is 2G only which would disqualify it for U.S. use. For the MP02 they say > "Please note that some mobile phone service providers in the USA have not

Perhaps it's time for more granular Javascript blocking. Since forever it's been 'Enable Javascript yes / no'. This makes no real world sense to me anymore (if it ever did). Could there be an end-user friendly way t

I don't think there was an article, hence the link to a merch page, sorry about that. I was a BBEdit user in the late 90s / early 00s. Interesting to see they are still around. I thought it was a magnificent editor at the time.

That is a good way to find the boundary relation and one I had not thought of. As for the Overpass API limits -- yes, if folks start to actually use this on any kind of scale, this will croak. I should perhaps do some logging, https:/

Sure, author here. The OSM data model does not have a concept of areas, or polygons. A line feature ('way' in OSM parlance) that shares the same point ('node') for its start and end is usually considered to be an area. T
