Work (enjoy what I do) ~40 hours/week. Commute is about 20 minutes one-way. No weekends anymore, thankfully. And yes, live alone. Free time spent reading, tv, WoW, learning. I try to hang out with a friend at least once a week for a fe

I don't agree that you can "fix" emotions [or, say, remove an emotion by eradicating all sources], rather than cope with them. But, I think you raise a really valid point. I need to start doing, rather than thinking about it.

Something I think I've overlooked is exactly this, my environment. I know that I don't help myself, trapping myself in my home. Good luck with your journey, and thanks.

Solid advice, thanks. As for some of your suggestions, it's not that I have a laundry list of out-of-touch friends. I keep in touch with every one of my good friends from High School and College. The problem is, that list is about | |

Thanks for the ideas. I've thought about it, but I.. I hate sports. I'll poke around for some non-sport related hobby groups, perhaps.

My book shelves are overflowing :) I agree, never alone with a good book. But, having spent weeks at a time reading 5+ hours a day, it can become lonely in itself. A doggo might be a good choice

I personally would not pay-per-day if its 1 transaction/day. Now, that being said, you could set up monthly transactions which are calculated on a daily basis.

I don't have an unlimited policy, and honestly it's for the best as I would likely abuse it. I'm in North America. I get 3 weeks. I take 3 weeks. Edit for clarification: 3 weeks of paid. Unlimited if conditions require it (me

The how is the hard part, and is going to vary by industry/location/etc. I guess I would start by looking where your target company is active. Do they do any live conventions? Be there. Do they have heavy internet presence on any

Unfortunately I find this a reality of working, no matter it be in development or not. People suck. The best thing I ever learned to do was leave my work at work. Don't take it home with you. I do bring a journal home, in case I have a

Certainly, absolutely, the things I didn't do. Constant lack of motivation, lack of ambition leads to a regretful life.

LinkedIn would be my first choice for this. Follow company pages, look at company employee lists and reach out to HR people with (a more professionally written version of) what you've written here. I wouldn't use exactly the follo

Fantasy is my jam. The hottest kid on the block at the moment (deservedly, or not, depending who you ask) is Patrick Rothfuss and his Kingkiller Chronicles. Although, the 3rd of the trilogy has been long awaited with no release in sight. If

In my opinion - Shoot as high as you feel reasonable. Do you feel competent enough to work at a mid-level position? If so, apply to those positions. Often times job postings are "over posted" to weed out people who feel themselves

Keep in mind, if it's an IP issue they should be replying upfront with "I'm not sure I can discuss that, IP blah blah" not dodging the question. If they are an honest candidate, at least.

I wouldn't "red flag" a dodged answer, but "yellow flag" it. One of the most useful tactics in interviewing, or in any conversation, is to use silence as a tool. In your example, if they say "Deep learning"
