People have already pointed out why. In addition, let me point out why it is also no more powerful than a Turing machine. If you accept physicalism, then thoughts arise as the result of electrical, mechanical, and chemical processes. As far

It depends on your design. You can build it with separate engines and manage to land safely on two diagonally opposite engines.

It would look like a quadrotor, and therefore be more hip and attract more press and possibly more investments. If I'm being generous, I'd say the advantages are: - Safer than a helicopter due to rotor redundancy - Easier to pilot

I agree with you on the sentiment, but note that Jetbrains products run great on Linux and do a lot more magic than IntelliSense. PyCharm even does a great job for dynamically typed Python, relying on type annotations, run time logs, etc.

There's nothing wrong with the Turing test as long as it is adversarial . The people who chatted with Eugene did not particularly try to trip it. The beauty of an adversarial Turing test is that it is AI complete because almost pr

As with everything in crypto: it depends on your threat model. If you are sending very sensitive secret messages, it is indeed crucial that you take the precaution to verify the keys very thoroughly. If however, you merely want to avoid bei

Stupid frat guys aren't going to fly explosive laden drones over restricted areas. However, everyone will have to pay the cost of this stupid DRM as it slows down operations and sucks battery. Worse, if it's made mandatory, it m

It is not a sensible idea. First of, people will be able to go around your DRM by patching the firmware, or spoofing the data coming from the GPS. Second, your proposal would require the GPS to be always on. Not every drone needs a GPS, and

Slavery is a legal or economic system under which people are treated as property. It has nothing to do with wages. Slaves under ancient Rome could earned wages and sometimes bought themselves out of slavery. In the U.S. for a variety of rea

No, tribalism is the reason we have both sports and stupid policies. The hope is that by condemning sports one can make a more general point about tribalism.

The article is correct that one should not cultivate a disinterest in sports and talk about the "working class struggle". If you're going to be an elitist, do it right. Spectator sports, rooting for a team, appeal to the most

Infix notation is when the operators goes in the middle. For instance, the expression: x * (y-z) uses infix notation. When I look at it, I can see at a glance that x is multiplied by the difference between y and z. However, were I to listen

There's a very easy way to do null hypothesis testing. Take the sha256 sum of all your experimental data. If the first fives bits of the hash are 0, then you can reject the null hypothesis with p < 3%
