For enterprise Mac management I've found the Casper Suite to be awesome: http://www.jamfsoftware.com/ (no affiliation) It can easily create thin images for setting up new machines (make a small base install and then give the computer app

Yes, the large scale solution from Microsoft is System Center Configuration Manager, which I use extensively at work. SCCM has a lot of strengths, but it's not really suited to small operations: it has a lot of complexity that smaller orgs

For an example of making Pong using FRP, check out this: http://elm-lang.org/blog/games-in-elm/part-0/Making-Pong.htm... It's not a very long read, and it will help make FRP more concrete with a practical example.

Well, even when I was in a cheapo apartment with a rather poor electric stove I was able to stir fry as long as I paid attention to how much I cooked at once. Wok Fast teaches a technique that works pretty well for cooking meat + vegetable

The Victorinox Fibrox that he recommends is indeed a great knife for general cooking. I have a lower-middle range gyuto but I usually use the Fibrox because it's easier to take care of. While I cook mostly vegetables, a friend of mine who i

Thanks for this -- I've been thinking about taking up SICP but I'm not that math-oriented (I do want to change that, though!) I think that I'll pick this book up first.

For anime in this genre, the pace can be a bit slow at times. This series is definitely character driven, as opposed to being event driven (although there are of course events that drive the characters). Since it's a bit of a "coming of age

At first I thought this article would be about squat toilets (which I did also encounter in Greece). While it's true that a squat toilet means that you don't have to sit on something that other people have sat on, it also leaves a lot of ro

You could sell the custom sized mattress at cost, but then charge a premium for the sheets. That way you make money off of the sheets, which wear out more quickly than a mattress anyways. Edit: I'm joking...
