The post I responded to mentioned (and naturally I mentioned this as well) perks, autonomy, structure, etc... and then says that the missing piece is billions of dollars in ad revenue. So I pointed out that many companies are able to get th

I don't buy it. Many companies are able to get the perks, culture, and autonomy right without being a multi-billion dollar company. It does enable Google to do certain things (like moonshot projects) that smaller companies can't d

Great Lakes Region is just fine. Don't really have tornados in Ohio that often (you're thinking like, Kansas or Oklahoma). No flooding really, no wildfires, blizzards only once in awhile (and with global warming soon to be never).

Pragmatically I'm not a libertarian, though I believe anarchism to be the most moral political philosophy. In practice I lean far left of most people. What I wanted to stop was this demonization of "the free market" and its w

The definition is too stringent to be useful, and I made note of the Wikipedia definition (because I knew people would google search "what is a free market" to look up the definition since they don't know it) and already gave

You do live in a free market. You don't live in a free market by a definition including no interference from government. But that's a dumb and useless definition so it's tossed out here.

If you live in the West you live in a free market right now. Asking the "libertarians" what they would do about this incident in the "free market" is a deceptive thing to say. Not only does it ignore the fact that we liv

Buy a windows desktop then I guess? The issue I have is that people want desktop power in a laptop. Yes, I'd love to have the latest Nvidia chip in my pencil-thin MacBook but there are trade offs. The 32gb ram issue. Well, they can des

Yeah. I mean look, they could design a laptop for the vast majority of their users, or they could design one that is best for <1% if their users. It's a clear choice.

Yeah I can see that (though keep in mind that this is a very fringe case). But on the other hand I'm not complaining that my MacBook can't run any game available at 60 fps. If I want to do that, I get a desktop. I think that has b

And I don't have a problem with this, but I do have a problem with minimum numbers of parking spots, or giant parking lots that are unutilized during the night or while you're not at work. Parking spots at place should like Costco

The ram you were using 3 years ago is a lot slower than the ram they have put into the new MacBook pros. So there is that benefit at least. 32 GB is a lot of ram. What do you do where you need that much ram in a laptop? Is that the limiting
