I've never owned an Apple product before. I'll probably buy this thing, it's amazing, but I won't use OS X, no, no :P

Awesome release! I've been waiting for this for a long time now. It will be in Arch Linux's repositories in a few hours. The package system is awesome, no more hassle installing plugins and extensions! Great job GNU, thank you!

This IDE/text editor has some very good ideas, but I would never use it because it doesn't seem like it will be open source, free software, or even freeware. I wouldn't rely on a text editor that can't be improved and changed by the communi

My issue with this interface is the following: You either have round tabs or rectangular tabs. Firefox used to have rectangular tabs, Chrome has rounded ones. The new Firefox ones has, well, I don't know. It's a mix of both, please choose o

Why do you think nix has a toolbar on top? There's no "nix interface". There are thousands of them. And most of the interfaces allow you to change the location of the panels. I laughed out lout at what you said. Either way, IMHO those two d

I completely agree, huge company, huge resources, lotsa money. With all that, making a Linux client would be super easy, any highschool kid can go ahead and just build it, but with their resources, they can make a just-as-good Linux client

I really liked it. I understand the point is not to actually play this game at work (what if you use a Linux distribution or Mac OS?), but to have some fun playing it :)

Indeed, I actually thought about not using 'code' while typing, but then just thought "it shouldn't matter.".

This doesn't impress me at all. Python code is supposed to look sexy, and it does, when well-written. A code of 73 lines with inlined semi-collons is no better than a 200 lines code. In fact, the 200 lines is better if one wants to understa

I completely agree, I noted it too. Basically, what he is saying is "It's not going to be open source or free software." but in a way that makes it sound less bad.

Exactly, if he's using Microsoft technology (C# and .NET), that was NOT made to work on Linux or Mac OS, he shouldn't be saying Linux is not a good development platform. It obviously won't work so well if he's using a language that was made

I use Gnome Shell partially because I don't want compiz. Compiz consumes way too many resources from my computer. Unity is great. No doubt, but it shouldn't be a compiz plugin, it should work the same way Gnome Shell does, not with Compiz.

As a developer of a Vte terminal for elementary OS, this comes as another reminder that Vte is really bad. Firstly, I was really angry with the fact that it couldn't search for "hello" in the same line. For example, it would only find the f

Good point, none of the distributions presented in this article are fully free software. For example, Linux Mint comes with some non-free software media codecs, and the package managers of all these 5 distros allow you to install non-free s

Oh, and Gentoo. Because you build Gentoo yourself, you only choose the packages you need, so it's super lightweight, only comes with what you need.

I came here just to say that. Linux Mint comes with so much bloat. Arch Linux and other distributions come with just the basic, and Mint is shipped with a graphical interface, lots of graphical software, media codecs, and it's huge.
