What's it for? If you can think of a reason to have it, then you should keep it.

I like the typography. The fade effect needs to go. The color scheme on the maps page, while neat, doesn't make much sense to me in the context of the rest of the site.

This is the same question I have. Memory usage is notoriously tricky to measure because of shared libraries and the like. So a simple figure like 95% doesn't end up meaning much at the end of the day. chrome://memory may be a good place to

> I can't imagine this being played on any other instrument This is exactly my point! In the abstract the continuum doesn't have much to say, musically. Paired with this sound source and played by Jordan Rudress, it works. (Who also has

I'm very suspicious of this and related products. The thing that's really great about all our acoustic musical instruments is that when you push on them, they push back . I don't mean this simply in the normal force sense. Consider a guita

I wonder what the expected warrantee redemption rate is for these things, for all of them that fail. Say you had it for 5 years and it failed. If it was me, I'd just go out and buy another one. Perhaps a different brand, but I probably woul

The Option/Maybe monad seems the way to do it. The null object pattern could also apply here, but you have to be pretty disciplined across your project to make it really work. Seems like the kind of thing you need language support for. Actu

While neat, all the web audio stuff I've seen fundamentally relies on setTimeout() for sequence playback. This only works at all because the apis let you schedule playback events ahead of time, against their special high resolution timer. T

The true perversion is that all the screen shots have the Solution Explorer docked to the righthand side of the window. It's hard to describe how fundamentally wrong that feels.

Same here, since the Great Delicio.us Exodus. The really great thing about pinboard is its twitter integration: if I tweet a link, it gets automatically bookmarked for me with the tag 'twitter'.

This is the correct rationale, and should be used to end every argument about naming conventions.

Avro is useful because it also defines a container format which is easily splittable by Hadoop.

Please fix your website so there aren't things moving in the background while I try to read what appeared to be some well-written text. I lasted about 5 seconds, and it's a shame.

No, but the user looking at it has something better to do than watch the browser window flash white and then pop in again as the page loads and renders.

100% agreed - that's what I learned to do in high school journalism class as well. But there's lots of stuff on the web, even that's considered news, that doesn't follow this format. Here's some first sentences from other Times articles: "T

The product isn't for me. Hopefully there's someone who it is for. But the web page is fantastic - this is the first convincing, tasteful integration of video into page content that I've ever seen. Well done!

Not an issue in practice with coffescript, due to various server- and client- side tooling. My current setup will actually recompile and refresh the browser for me whenever I save. Typescript should be just the same, workflow-wise.

Might want to dial back the requested permissions on the manifest, you're asking for access to 'data on all websites' right now.

Exactly. But this isn't the same as the scrollview bounce. Especially try doing a slow grab and letting go near the edge; the sudden artificial bounce is jarring and strange.

The sidebar swipe animation needs some attention; they tried to add a cute little bounce at the end when the main panel slides in and out, but it just feels weird. Nothing else does that on iOS.

I wonder where the data for these rankings comes from. Is it publicly available? It would be nice to have a dynamic ranker which prioritizes the things you care about.

But a feed reader inside another program that IS changing does indeed require maintenance. Even just testing to make sure it still works isn't free. It also adds complexity to the user interface.

I haven't used the betas of the new version, but I'm not sure I would describe VS as particularly polished. It's better than Eclipse, but IDEA beats it handily. Even Xcode (newer versions) comes out in front, in its own XCode-y way. I actua
