wikihow is awful. Because it is burying useful content with their superfluous garbage. OTOH StackOverflow employs similar tactics but it is legit and usually useful content. Should Google discriminate between these two? If, yes based on wha

It is unfortunate they've chosen opt-out. This is a tool for developers by developers. Are devs really cool with this, collecting information about them (even if it's anonymized) without their explicit consent? Regardless of who w

I have searched for "ga.js" & "analytics" in the Ligttable repository, nothing came up. So I assume you mean it's Atom that comes with GA tracking enabled by default.

Perhaps the author is an inadequate human being. Or perhaps he's perfectly fine and everybody around him is broken and twisted. I guess he should find out the answer himself. But a little perspective helps. I'll risk suggesting so

Yes, and since everything is triangulated too early (it seems) there's no level-of-detail. The scan in the video looks like puke. The scan that plays in the background when you load the page first looks much better.

I love that talk, thanks for associating it with this. I see the similarities but I think if you read the whole thing (I've finished it now) you will find out some differences as well. I vaguely remember John Cleese talks about innovat

I wanted to share the parent URL but HN didn't allow me. In "Why No-One’s Noticed This Before"[1] the author makes a distinction of `self-consistents` and `confabulators`. I've found this very similar to Robert Pirsig&#x

Starbucks logo looks nothing like those round icons they've used under "Some more great features" but why did I immediately think of Starbucks when I was looking at them? I'm not even a coffee aficionado.

Very cool series of articles. My take-away, from the last part: The state represented by each search node doesn’t have to be limited to a position; on the contrary, it can include an arbitrarly complex set of values. For example,

But logic is subjective and reason is impotent. What is the purpose of philosophy other than to protect us from acquiring knowledge about reality? We'd be defenseless without faith and mysticism.
