Yeah, definitely. I made a mistake a while back, and swapped one of my testing networks to v6 only, and I was surprised I only noticed things were broken after a few days (looking at you github). I think it has a lot to do with people being

Memory and PCIE lanes in larger systems can be attached to particular CPUs, or to sub sections of a single CPU (i.e. AMD Threadrippers / Eypcs in particular) where traversing the the inter CPU / CCX links can cause latency or band

Virgin Media allows you to use "modem mode" on their service, which is great, because it also turns off the CGNat crap, and gives you a real IPv4 address via DHCP on your own equipment

this is a bit more, but if people are looking for a more capable (e.g. 10Gig, more ports, and more CPU) I really like the ten64 I got. https://www.crowdsupply.com/traverse-technologies/ten64 I am currently getting Vyos

more powerful in most cases - yes. distributed - no. learning about doing HA/Scale out via distributed systems is a really valuable skill, and projects like these make it sooo much more real, beyond even just basic networking.

Is there any details on the BMC / switch? If the BMC is something good (thats supports standards like redfish / etc) and the managed switch is exposed using something standard, I think this could make a really interesting dev boar

mutt and thunderbird are the only 2 clients I have ever found that can make mailing lists usable - gmail threaded view sucks for conversations that have branches, and encourage terrible quoting / top posting practices.

But - if we had SRV records for http(s), things like geo load balancing would be super simple, no need for anycast / weird CNAME chains. The client would get a list of hosts, with attached priorities, and weights.

Yeah - looking at the mailing list discussions, it seems people find bridged channels not as "nice"? [1], but in the long run, I think a move to matrix would stave off the "move to slack so I get a GUI / bouncer / e

I really don't see all of OpenDev moving to Matrix - I saw Zuul was considering it, which is unfortunate[1] :/ - now the various projects are going to be fragmented. 1 - I trust there was good reasons, the Zuul folks are great, bu

yeah - at least with something like git-review [1] when you do git review on a branch with multiple commits, it creates a chain of commits in gerrit with one command. 1 - https://docs.opendev.org/opendev/git-review/

yes - the same for github, but when you go to merge it, it messes up.

it groups the branch into a chain of commits, and has dependancies between them, so you can approve a commit on top of the chain, but it will not merge until the ones it is based off merge.

yeah - that is a pain in the beginning. Personally (this is completely anecdotal, and not backed by any serious data), I have found it drives people to do multiple small commits, as they rebase a lot easier. using something like git review

For me the happy medium is something like gerrit. It works on the one change, one patch, one commit strategy, which helps with the ability to rebase for fast moving code, makes it easier to view CI results for a patch, and is slightly more

Nightsight on its own is freaking magic, and makes the camera worth it for me. Taking pictures in doors, or in a bar (not that I can do that anymore :) ) was easy on a pixel, and always came out looking good.

Face unlock is ... inconsitant, and support in apps is sparse. I have a 4XL (personal) and 2XL (work), and I never run into issues with the 2XL, it reads the fingerprint as I take out of my pocket, and it is open as I look at it. 4XL - take

Some of that is easily done with Helm and kubeadm, but not all of it, and definitely doesn't scale as you grow the number and size of the clusters running.
