I think a lot! For example, the new https://www.whitehouse.gov uses jQuery. When you just want to add a small bit of interaction to a mostly-static site, jQuery can help. There's a current trend to complicate things with a

Basic summary: "a modern IDE should be optimised for my particular use-case". The author then proceeds to describe a very atypical use-case. One example: "The IDE should ask for the Github org eg, github.com/astradot and

I wish there was a more universal format for parsers, but I just don't think there enough people who know their stuff. Take PHP, a language that a lot of people use: the tree-sitter-php extension doesn't support features added in

I know this is not what the article is talking about, but there have been some success stories of companies incubating startups. An obvious example is Tinder, incubated at IAC.

Speaking just from my own experience, maintaining open-source software can be unhealthily engrossing. The combination of wanting to please random internet strangers and everyone being in different time zones has, at times, overcome the flim

Having written a language server for PHP, I can tell you it's damn hard – I don't begrudge Microsoft's behaviour here at all.

Thanks for putting this into words. People want a reason to log on, a reason to show up to work. I wrote a blog post on Monday about a relatively old and not-hot language. The post nevertheless trended on Medium and received 50k views. A lo
