Rule of thumb is that half the salary amount (e.g. 120k USD to 60k EUR) in Paris will get you about the same or better quality of life as you have in NYC or SF, once you account for differences in how real estate, taxes, healthcare, and ret

FWIW, this last analogy is probably not going to sound very convincing to an American audience, as convicted felons here have their lives permanently ruined, including after they've paid their debt to society in full. As an expat, peop

FWIW, I had a similar issue recently: if you cannot find the link targets, you can still simulate a click on the element using phantomjs.

The comparison with amdflaws seems unfair. My understanding is that while they demonstrate a flaw in some email clients, it would be enough for an attacker to exploit one vulnerable target amongst the recipients to retrieve the plaintext em

I believe the comment above refers to the fact a big 4 would also have a "tax optimization" business unit. However it is separate from the management consulting one, same as audit.

Thought experiment: if after 5/25, I download my data, then revoke consent and delete my account, then a while later reactivate my account and log back in -- if any of my previous personal data is tied to my "new" account, ha

Has there been any conversation on HN regarding what this move achieves? I cannot see any clear benefit with regards to GDPR.

His notes are quite fascinating: https://mobile.twitter.com/becket/status/983846618263891968?... I wouldn't read too much on the comment that they don't already comply with GDPR. It's likely it only

There's clear language in the regulation on the obligation to validate the identity of the data subject. How to do that in a satisfactory manner... leading practices might take a few months to crystalize.

I'm thinking EU residents/citizens should be able to do so under the GDPR. The main concern is that the request would cascade to their 3rd parties (as data processors) and it might be difficult to anticipate the total reach of the
