> taking wealth from people None of the ideas in the article truly boil down to this, except maybe some specific implementations of taxation. > redistribution is not the only kind of distribution. I’m trying to understand this, but I

Inequality refers to unequal distribution of wealth so in fairness what could this article have been about, if not some suggested mechanism for distributing wealth differently?

Thanks, that is really interesting. I hadn’t read that page, but I had disabled iMessage from the phone settings, which is how I first noticed the issue. Maybe I was not thorough enough, (it says to disable FaceTime too, which I didn’t/

The biggest thing I lost in a similar switch was ANY old conversation with somebody who was an iMessage user. Where they reply to a conversation and think they are just texting you, but actually they are sending iMessages that you just aren

I avoided taking notes for much of college, except of key things I wanted to come back to on my own. So many people try to capture the whole content of a lecture in notes, but to me that’s more like transcribing than processing. What I foun

This seems awesome. I can’t get it to play from my phone but the concept is really really useful. I used to want to make something like this for audio-based exams for people with dyslexia, for example. In Ireland people with reading difficu

It’s rare to see the word misunderestimate in the wild. Mind if I ask was this a mistake, or intentional irony, or is this word has just made its way into the general vocabulary now? And to be less irrelevant, I do agree with you that a sim

Airtable does something like this. I don’t know how excel-compatible it is, but the core of data types and something similar to primary keys are enforced in a pretty intuitive way, and basic formulas work fine. Haven’t done much advanced st

Instacart only operates in the US though, so seemed like reasonable context for the comment I was referring to. But I see your point in my choice of “the real world” in my comment. Badly worded.

I agree. I was pointing out that if this commenter “expects” the employee is adequately compensated by the price paid to the company for the service, they are mistaken. I don’t think relying on the individual discretion of each customer to

I’m not at all suggesting that it should be the way it is. Instacart only operates in the US though, so I figured it was safe to take that as the context.

While that would be ideal, I do think it’s at least slightly crazy to truly expect that people delivering food are not somewhat depending on tips to make it work. That’s just how it goes in the real world!

That’s a fair point. But still, the relationship between the root, 5th, and major third are very much connected to the fact that they are specific multiples of that root frequency, and are the loudest overtones typically audible when the no

There are several statements you could pick out like that in this article. Like > There is a chord called "C major", but it's totally different to the note called "C". ... the E and G of the C major chord are pro

My point is that “too much regulation” is an insufficient criticism. It means nothing, except that it suggests you think regulation itself is the problem. If you do indeed believe regulation is necessary, then we both accept that. It then b

> Classic case of over-regulation. "Let's solve it with more regulation!" I find this to be a fairly feeble argument. Regulation, to me, is a necessary evil. Most especially when it comes to protecting the common good, or
