Imho, if i'm going to download the code to run and test it anyway, i might as well use an editor on my computer (vim/e/sublime) and skip Ace.

Respectfully, this isn't true. Safe inserts are safer , but not safe. There could still be a problem writing the data to disk, and (My|Postgre)SQL just doesn't have this problem.

How pedantic. Two hyphens is a dash, and the "'" character is perfectly usable everywhere you want a single quote or an apostrophe. Does it really matter how many spaces after a dot one uses, or if dash is really a dash or just two hyphens[

Actually i've used a few "NoSQL" databases in tons of projects and come to the conclusion that traditional relational database systems are more appropriate for many, many tasks. I really like mongodb and will continue to use it, but not for

But this is both awkward and hard to manage! You just don't get that with HAProxy.

I generally don't use MySQL, but iirc it confirms that nothing went wrong saving the data (whereas with mongo there is no confirmation step, you just have to hope that it was successful), and the data is written to disk. Additionally, i've

I'm wondering about this too. For almost everything i work on, the data being in the correct format, written to disk, and stored reliably is more important than the speed or other advantages of Mongo.

As a bonus, SQL cares about data reliability . Not that all of "NoSQL" doesn't, but two major "NoSQL" databases, Redis and MongoDB, both seem to care more about performance than durability.

There's no fanfare. Firefox released a new version as it does every 6 weeks and people are happy because there's a better, faster firefox. The same thing happens with chrome.

Most password managers allow you to export a CSV file of all your info. I export my passwords every once in a while, encrypt them, and put them in my backups. My pw manager can disappear and i wouldn't even care. If you can't handle backing

Chrome has no version number, firefox has a tiny version number on the button. You're really going to say that chrome is better because of that? So HN has gotten past the language holy wars, but now they're arguing about something ridiculou

Actually firefox is just doing what chrome is doing. Chrome has a major release every 6 weeks and changes it's major version number every 6 weeks. It's great when chrome does it, but when firefox changes their versioning schedule it's "stup

Hrm, the site says that latest versions of both Firefox (Stable & Aurora) and Opera, and Chromium 6 don't support WebGL. Is there any browser this is supposed to work in?

Analytics software on your server has the advantage of tracking images, css, js, and other non-html-page files, and still works when your users use addons like Noscript, Adblock, or Ghostery.
