Please do not make content-free posts such as this. It adds no value to the conversation and is only noise. If you actually wish to bitch about a post that we all got the point of, you're going to need more than two paragraphs.

No, these little tech startups (mostly, with obvious exceptions) make no difference in the world and will die in a few years never to be remembered. The point is that people enjoy doing them. People play piano too. That doesn't do much for

No, you can reverse tunnel through a VPS and get the same effect, but you're paying 2-5x as much for virtually the same thing (unless you already have a VPS).

DynDNS works, but not if you're behind a NAT or firewall that you have no control over (e.g. a coffee shop).

Why would i use this over a VPS? A VPS is a similar price and has similar functionality, but doesn't pose a security risk to my home workstation and comes with a slew of other benefits. The tech looks reasonably cool, but what is the use ca

Avoiding microsoft will not make you secure, but using microsoft products will make you more vulnerable.

You put your company blog on github? I don't see how this is original, and given your history, it looks to me like you're spamming your blog. Flagged.

Please stop using the word "hack" to refer to absolutely everything. I'm hacking waffles for breakfast. I'm hacking my car to work today. I'm hacking a web app. I'm hacking hacker news. It's really annoying. You can come up with more descri

IRC. I honestly don't see why you'd pay for campfire when you can accomplish the same thing with IRC and/or some kind of VoIP system (SIP, Skype, Ventrilo, Teamspeek, etc).

Agreed. Between calling it a "line of code", the green name, the fact that the submitter has never posted anything aside from their own products, and the title, this looks like spam to me.

Another related issue is web browsing. A lot of people (i'd say most web users) don't understand that there are hundreds of ad networks and other companies (Google, Facebook) tracking them across most of their web browsing without their kno

There's one of these every week. Someone is using either Rackspace or EC2, switches to the other, and talks about how the original is terrible. It seems pretty split as to who likes which provider. Don't let one blog post sway your opinion

At first glance this looks amazing! I've long been looking for a service almost as good as Gmail so i can leave and finally have some privacy in my email correspondence. Thanks Opera!

This attitude that everyone should be a programmer bothers me. The designer's job is to design, and it's the programmer's job to integrate the designs. Why don't you learn photoshop and how to do basic design? That way you don't need to ask
