FWIW, duckduckgo has a feature that allows you to jump to any site from your search bar. Searching for '!so Hello, world' will pull up a stackoverflow search for 'Hello, world', and searching for '!w Hello, World' will pull up the relevant

I see, i read your question too fast. Using scratch/alice/nxt/what-have-you as a tool to show what compsci is and how it can be exciting is fantastic, i just wouldn't use it as a method for teaching programming. My bad. Another thing to loo

The best way to teach programming to middle/high school students is to teach them programming. Forget things like alice and scratch. Just hand them a python prompt and a book or tutorial, or perhaps Hackety Hack. Middle school students are

The problem is that the message doesn't make anyone feel better. They apologized for the problem, but i still wonder if Dropbox fails open. If their login servers go down for a few minutes or get DoSed, can anyone access my account? That do

It's not clear because it does not explain what happened and why it will never again. Users expect something like "There was a solar eclipse that caused a bit flip on our login server which caused strcmp to give the wrong result ...". We ex

Your reccomendation is hilarious because it still does not give the user any privacy. Neither private browsing mode nor SSL will give the user any privacy from google, which is the real concern. You still log searches and IP addresses for a

A much better alternative is https://ssl.scroogle.org , which doesn't have personalization since google can't tell scroogle users apart. It also has benefits like having a bit of privacy while you search.

Bitbucket somehow manages to maintain a service of similar or greater quality or reliability and has free unlimited private repos. Github is charging more because they can, not because it costs that much to maintain.

Hmm, testing it out it constantly confuses weather it should be encrypting or decrypting. I've tried to enter a message and had it request a decryption password. That combined with the poor crypto practices makes it rather unusable, but it'

Wait, seriously? We're getting to the point of submitting decade-old programming languages (that i'd bet 99% of programmers on here are aware of) as news, without even some kind of news related to them!? Cmon, at least write up a short blog

It's Windows, there isn't going to be a change in userbase no matter what MS does. Windows users will not switch to Linux (but it's the year of Linux on the desktop!) because of the usual issues, but serious (non-VS-using) developers will n
