The blackmarket is very much alive and well in Germany, allowing photographers to verify anything is silly, they can be bribed. :x In fact when I lived in Austria, within a couple months I had access to more black market goods/services

anecdotally, my family is full of vets and no one cares where they sit at any table, in any room. not sure that is very true, unless they were active combat and might have some PTSD.

fair enough. makes sense, in that light. Sales isn't my thing/department, I'd probably be amazed at how big the sales teams are at some of these places. Is that part of tech a kinda of a turnstile as it is?

To me this just illustrates the excess some companies have. Frankly I wonder what some of these companies are doing to even require these staffing numbers do VCs like headcount or something?

i dunno, i wrote PHP scripts for the CLI that run a $100m+ business and execute many millions of times per day. PHP is great for things not web-related, i think many just didnt take the time to learn.

maybe it was fun and games to get a few days of working from home, but now that its a hard reality, some might not like its effect on their way of life. if people no longer have to flock to certain cities for great pay, pay will probably go

free trials offer something for free without charge. is that predatory? they are taking the risk of offering free services in the hope that you will stay around and keep using the service. if you dont, they are at a loss.

I know Google employees that have had their accounts on various Google Services shutdown and they couldn't even get them back themselves. The place is very siloed, something needs to give because these nightmare scenarios keep happenin

I used protonmail for a week, but i got tired of waiting hours and days for some emails to arrive. some we so late the verification links were no longer active. ugh, if only proton mail was up to par with Gmail.

I believe the concept of teledildonics is patented, but the owner is a really cool cat and I bet he would think this is a great idea.

somewhat agree, but many comments here detracting from PHP don't have any substance as to why... they come off as tribal and elitest.

those concerns prevail in every large project i've seen, regardless of language. I think skill and knowledge of the coders is vastly more important then the language choice... you can write insecure, slow code in any language.

i think what Tim Bray did was best. As an engineer there you are a resource that is enabling this machine. The best way to stop the machine and get noticed is to stop output. Until AWS realizes their refusal to take action will erode both t

i would probably look at updating and keeping a more secure OS that can run modern software. Asking a framework to maintain a version of their framework for a version of PHP that is no longer supported, is not realistic. also laravel is ope

Funny, I remember everyone hating on PHP when they moved to RoR, and now they hate that are and moving on. Its almost as if they just need things to hate so they can rewrite code. its very cyclical IMO. The elitism of learning a new languag

Articles like this sure don't help drive adoption of crypto... At this point I think more has been stolen over the years then actually spent.

This is generally true, but that TV show "American Greed" has shown a number of folks that tried to get the riches without actually dying. I wonder how many have pulled it off.

Other then police and firepeople... what city jobs are high risk? I think most city jobs are paying in the median and giving well above average benefits. it doesn't make sense.
