Folks that come from over funded and over engineered companies don’t know this. Because they haven’t experienced it, it’s simply not possible to them. If you have money to burn, you do so. My company has grown 15x in the last few years and

I spoke with an engineer working on a job site near Seattle for a tech company, their soil stability test holes kept failing inspection but they were allowed to keep retrying in other areas. It took 15 tries to get a sample that would pass,

Gem and glass faceting. Would also like to learn knapping and more about blacksmithing, but hard to find someone to learn from around here.

A piano, if not cared for. Is literally just a liability after a while. Most people have to pay to get them taken away. I wouldn’t consider this an indicator of the art dying. Cars go to junk yards too, but cars aren’t dying.

Not really advice per se, but: none of us has it figured out, most of us are lost and at least somewhat unhappy when we are honest about it. You just have to learn to cope with and embrace this fact, and learn to love the chaos that is life

You usually have to vest over years to get full value out of that “immediate equity” you are referring to. And in that time a stock can tank. Still a risk. Albeit smaller.

This kpi driven decision making persists across VC funded start ups everywhere. Gotta keep those investors happy so they pony up for the next round. Whatever kpi you sold them on, is all that matters now.

You forgot to add “yet” to the end of the sentence. It will be a problem. ;)

I wonder how this collapse is going to affect insurance rates for other buildings build on terribly unstable land. Engineers are well aware of this risk, but now that it’s happening and it’s real, they will calculate it differently, I think

I deal mostly in PHP and never thought that making API requests was hard. Am I lost? The hard part is dealing with the fact that APIs are not standardized, even within the same company.

It’s seems very right to share what I have first hand experience with. Seems silly to look at it any other way. I just wanted to state that I am aware these dozens of people I know don’t speak for all union members, but my first hand experi

Every single person I know either hated their Union because it does nothing positive for them except collect money. Or they hate it because it protects terrible workers from being fired and prevents any discipline. One of these people runs

I often wonder… are they doing this protect people/workers or to extend their power and grow their business? ( yes a Union is a business and it has bills and high paid execs, like any other)

Interesting, I was always told they work their engineers to the bone and then replace, hence the lower average tenure.

looks like a cool solution. having researched these tools very recently, i will say, the pricing is very high. there are other offerings on the market for $0.50 per look up and only bill you if its a positive lookup.

Was this “regional market adjustment“? They do that with hard to get models. Try getting a TRD Pro in a limited edition color. Most dealers will mark them up a lot. They sell at these prices, so I guess the market is doing its thing.
