I'm rather sad to see the Ouya posts and comments like this on HN. There is no science to the knockdown - it's just naysaying. It's not like they're raising to build something really crazy like a space vehicle that docks with ISS. Many de

One factor assisting 'mobile' right now is that SEO is less pervasive - mobile apps are focussed on UX which desktop webapps long ago ditched to get rankings (ramming as much content on page as possible, overusing keywords, reviews, ratings

I do encourage any SQL user, who hasn't already tried MongoDB, to fire it up and try it themselves. Mongoid in Ruby is fairly fast to get started. I've been using SQL since early 90s. For web apps and large collections I've started using Mo

Impatient acquisitions when stressed to try and fix numbers/strategy can make any issues 10x worse down the line. Better to do nothing for 3 months. Take some time out of the office and do some deep thinking.

Long experience in development is often more about knowing what won't work as much as what will. Older developers can often rule 80% solutions out immediately - but a younger developer would have to work it out the hard way.
