It's just that when you say "performance on par with Go", people might imagine you could write a 3D engine in Elixir, which obviously isn't the case.

For CPU intensive tasks, performance _is_ close to Ruby, while both Ruby and Elixir are far behind Go. Soft realtime doesn't mean fast, it just means good std deviation on response time and not a lot of missed deadlines. Fortunately as

Correct me if i'm wrong but if you use something like Elixir's Stream you get composability for free and don't need transducers.

I don't know why parent was downvoted. This is on top of the list of things that kept me from switching back to FF.

I remember that thread now. Well, looks like standard Google behavior then.

Looks like capitalism has blunted Hanlon's razor :-)

Would they? Cause that would obviously give away that the break was intentional. If they break it for everyone they can still just blame it on an unintentional mistake.

Ruby _is_ itself slow by any meaningful metric. That being said, the productivity gains usually outweigh the slowness. I've been doing Elixir/Phoenix lately and subjectively it feels significantly faster than Ruby/Rails.

Lard is still very popular here in Romania. It's used extensively for cooking and frying. It's also consumed as a bread spread (salted and topped with onions, paprika etc). Meat and sausages stored in lard are also a delicacy. The

Both of: * The pricing page includes a public IP for all instance types * It's an old plan they don't offer anymore So the cheapest one at the moment is START1-XS, which is 1EUR/month without public IP.

I used both Hetzner and Scaleway. I trust Hetzner way more tbh. With Scaleway we had several issues other commenters also mentioned: instances not rebooting, random freezes, instance types out of stock. In the meantime we have both bare met

Their cheapest instance is actually just 0.5EUR/month if you don't need a public IP.

You should not ask: "When to use Microservices?" if your previous question was: "What is the difference between microservices and containers?"

Sure. I just wanted to point out that the linked article describes similar weaponry used by the US in Vietnam, so the point about inspiration from a movie is kinda moot.

I just found out that the Archer C7 now has support for both Qualcomm SFE and hardware decryption. No official builds yet (all official builds for the C7 are based on kernel 4.9 while SFE requires 4.14), but I found this: https:/

Thanks, I tried this build: https://github.com/gwlim/openwrt-sfe-flowoffload and speeds are much improved (more than 2x, I'm getting 893.1Mbps downloads now).

I should have been clearer. I was talking about two distinct issues: * lack of hardware encryption support * poor network performance (about 50% slower than with original firmware) - the issue I linked to

Hardware encryption is on the C7 is not supported. If you have fast internet you're capped at 500mbps due to this issue: https://forum.archive.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=53703

Anyone know a decently priced router with 802.11ac and hardware encryption that can run OpenWRT? I currently have an TP-LINK Archer C7 with OpenWRT but VPN performance is abysmal. I don't know if my router has any hardware decryption (

I have a C7 with OpenWrt, but: If your internet is fast, OpenWrt is not good on the TP-Link C7, see this issue: https://forum.archive.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=53703 . I downgraded my internet from 1gbps to 500mbps becaus
