Same here. When I was in college I bought the shitiest, cheapest IKEA shelves (LACK?) basically made from cartboard that's mounted on a steel rack. They survived three moves, no damage whatsoever. I'm sure that this does not apply

That's why you should have email on your own domain. If they lock you out you can quickly-ish migrate to a different provider without losing your email address. Not a solution but definitely softens the blow. Google allows this for GSu

I'm afraid that this behaviour in general, not just related to Netflix, is doing the industry much harm. My own experience is that recently I just don't want to get into new shows, at all. The story goes - I start to watch a show,

I find that leaving things to read in open tabs and not acting upon them immediately is a good thing. Once I circle back to them I often find myself thinking 'why would I wanna read that? it's a complete waste of time, what was I

Oh, I was too ignorant to do the math myself, thanks & sorry ;) It does seem that the comparison I made is apples & elephants, but I do think that the point still kinda stands. Unoptimized monstrosities like Slack waste a lot of ele

Everyone always bitches about how much electricity is used mining cryptocurrencies yet somehow Slack and other vendors don't get slapped by the same argument. Each time my wife turns on her work issued laptop (T470s, i7, 16GB RAM, SSD)

Seconded. Just bought a Mazda 6 and one of the reasons was a sensible, buttons-first infotainment system. There's a knob in the center console that I can use to control everything. Besides that, the seat warmer/cooler, the AC, all

Heh, I'd love to start, but now I unfortunately have a good excuse. As soon as I get to it, I'm sure I'll first-time-manual-cpp-memory-management my fingers right off my fucking hand and I'll end up in a hospital in a mi

Seconded. Every language has it's use and quirks. Does SQL get tricky in tricky situations? Sure. But what doesn't. This piece reads like Joey being unable to open a carton of milk [1], "there's gotta be a better way!&qu

This should be punishible by law, jailtime included. The intent of the law is to give the consumer a choice. What these companies are doing are trying to circumvent the law by making it extremely difficult and annoying to exercise that choi

I had a different idea. Maybe you could craft a zip-bomb response. The bot would fetch the small gzipped content and upon extraction discover it was GBs of data? Not sure that's possible here, when responding to a request, but that wou
