There's lots of cute tools that attempt to cut out a niche at the low end of the difficulty curve - minor editing/creation for web but Photoshop has an incredibly sophisticated engine for handling the complexities and complications of profe

This is awesome but it does seem a touch depressing we've taken 15 years to incompletely replicate VRML. In the bleeding edge of one browser engine.

As someone who works with HTML and animation daily I greatly appreciated the detailed text. This isn't about what is made possible, it's about making it easier to structure larger and more complex applications that have significant animatio

While I get it I don't really see the big fuss. Facebook knows as much as you choose to tell it. I choose to tell it nothing. Yes you can infer soft networks from the email address books they've harvested etcetc but really there's nothing i

If they flip or IPO this joke before it all goes wrong they'll make money. Doesn't mean it isn't a mockery, it just means they're riding the bubble.

If I worked for a US/UK/Russian/Chinese intel organisation I'd make damn sure we had a steady pool of logless proxies dotted about on boxes in Iran, Pakistan and whatever net-connected boxes North Korea has.

Because the point is not to lock the NYT's content inside an impenetrable DRM fortress, it's to get those that consume its content the most to contribute to its production costs. I don't think the paywall has been structured very well but I

Once again the movie industry seems to believe it calls the shots only to be bitch-slapped by the invisible hand of the market. You'd think they'd learn by now.

They're comparing an arbitrary and selective pool of deaths to the modern death rate of roofers & DIY and pretending it has some significance in energy policy. If you take that seriously maybe you need to look closely at why you're so k

For those on OSX Glimmer Blocker ( http://glimmerblocker.org/ ) provides really nice OS-wide ad blocking and there's a custom ruleset that blocks all the facebook widgets with click-to-enable at http://visuao.net/facebook/glimmer.xml

Every crossfit trainer I've met, trained with or by or read has emphasised form over how many reps, there might be sloppy gyms but that certainly hasn't been my experience.

Given he calls Crossfit sadistic it's ironic he's basically describing it. Free weights, core strength, a focus on overall fitness and all aspects thereof over abstract weight numbers. It's not complicated and plenty of people know it. Hype

One of the really nice things about Backbone is you can you as little or as much as you need. Don't need collections? Don't use them. No need for a controller structure? Not a problem. You could also build your own thinner structures on top

If the future of publishing is an ipad friendly Wordpress theme the industry is in more trouble than I could conceive. This kind of absurd hyperbole makes it hard to take small but interesting ideas seriously.
