When you have permanent background noise in the form of Tinnitus already it's an improvement.

Alignment tax is real. But they probably have something more powerful internally. GPT-4 took months to be available to the public.

To this day I still don't know what I was shadowbanned for. It got randomly removed a few months later. And it's ridiculous when you make a very high effort long post but then get the whole thing hidden because of the use of retar

Count the tokens, use different prompts. It's fairly reliable to do this from API but I haven't tried with the web app.

Well someone did just write "'now you have two problems' b-bazinga. Software engineering is hard." I don't blame them for the lock.

Language models have completely overhauled the NLP space. If you have a problem involving natural language data, you can prototype working pipeline in an afternoon. Often this prototype is very close in performance to a 'proper' s

Yeah I was using hacky workarounds like this to get Object[] types in my schema. The API seemed to throw a fit if I did this in any other way. ``` {"type": "array", "items": {"type": "object"

I still can't believe there wasn't greater pushback to the removal of visible dislikes. They were incredibly useful as a quick indicator to see if something might be wrong with a video.

That 200k context needs some proper testing. GPT-4-Turbo advertises 128k but the quality of output there goes down significantly after ~32k tokens.

Could you point me to more reading on extractive summarisation? A lot of what I see feels out of date compared to what should be possible now with LLMs.

Yeah, degraded performance on long contexts has been observed in plenty of other models [ https://arxiv.org/abs/2307.03172 ] so I was cautious too. Unfortunately I don't have access to 4-32k. I would have liked to t

I'm interested in more testing on the context side of things. For my NLP pipelines, I batch n-articles together to process (extract fields from) in one prompt (final output is something like this {"1":[{}], "2": [{}

It's probably a smaller, updated (distilled?) version of gpt-4 model given the price decrease, speed increase, and turbo name. Why wouldn't you expect it to be slightly worse? We saw the same thing with 3-davinci and 3.5-turbo. I&

Might as well have a quick discussion here. How's everyone finding the new models? 4-Turbo is a bit worse than 4 for my NLP work. But it's so much cheaper that I'll probably move every pipeline to using that. Depending on the

You can use the function definitions and few shot prompting (examples) to great effect together. E.g. I was trying to build a classifier for game genres from descriptions. I could use the function definitions to easily define all the main g
