I know exactly how they _can_ improve things but the engineering organization is not well run to do big infra-only projects like that.

Lyft is horribly inefficient in terms of using their AWS resources. I know this first hand. They don't have to build their own DS. They just need to build a better system. Possibly take advantage of Lambdas because a lot of compute hea

I used to think without DOM web assembly is uselsess then I saw how Figma made their UI super fast rendering to a canvas and was convinced that hopefully WS will be the reason DOM apis go out of fashion

I blame the Linux Foundation that has allowed Node.js to ship with npm CLI which is a client for a _VC backed_ _for profit_ company. This posinstall stuff is clearly a bad design that many have pointed to it before but npm just ignored it.

JS DOM API is a bridge to a native implementation. I wish we could use DOM directly in WS. Problem is DOM calls are blocking but removing the JS layer can help.

This is a really good write up and I love how they were cautious not to feed the ongoing fanboyism in for and against React Native folks. Say what you like but this is a very mature move from a young engineering organization.
