Long ago in 8th-grade shop class I wasn't feeling well and asked the teacher if I could go to the bathroom. He said no. Right then I projectile vomited all over him and his desk. All he said was "Ok, you can go." Afterward he

I've had my Amazon account since '98 or so. I still have items on my wishlist from the 90s. Think of all the database upgrades over the years to move that data forward...

A few years back I camped out on the Alvord Playa in this part of Oregon on a clear, moonless, summer night: it was spectacular! I've been to quite a few remote dark sky sites, but this place was something else. Later that night a stor

I remember getting an email from John in the early days of Autodesk. At the time most developers had Sun workstations and he had gotten into all our systems and ran a password crack program looking for weak passwords. Our network wasn'

I have a friend that just spent the last two years building a fox-body Mustang drag car with a turbo-charged big-block Ford engine in it. I was surprised to learn he put a Powerglide in it. I guess the Ford folks even use the Powerglide. Th
