I use it as an instant StackOverflow for the most part to get around new libraries or libraries/languages I don't use that often. Also generating custom bash one liners or small scripts. It is priceless for this use case. Yeah, so

The problem for us devs is not that it will replace you completely (although that day is coming, but it's at least a decade away). The problem is that as developer productivity increases dramatically this may put pressure on developer

There is a whole YouTube genre of songs with video where every lyric is a generated image (typically MidJourney). Some of them are pretty cool.

This looks great! What is the text-to-image model that you have used?

Not very far. I think this is not really a "serious" project...

Honestly I hate touch controls just about anywhere. On a smartphone they make sense. But for example I bought a set of BT earbuds with a physical button and it is so much superior (that said, didn't try the Apple earpods yet, maybe tha

Came here to comment exactly this. The first time I saw my friend's Model 3 I was thinking "wait, how is this better?"

Agreed, although as far as grifters go he's far from the worst one. But getting worse lately and fairly rapidly. The biggest mystery in the universe: how does he pull all these guests?

Lex is the undisputed King of Cringe. Most of the stuff that he comes up with himself is IAm14AndThisIsDeep level. Also his voice has tendency to put people to sleep. He has really good guests on though. Not sure how he pulls them, but some

Same for me, it looked nice, but never got into Doom 3. On the other hand the new Doom games, especially Doom Eternal, go back to the roots and are one of the best FPS games out there, at least for single player that is...

"I know that the games themselves end up costing more" Just got PS5 and the PS Extra membership whose library has almost every game I wanted. Maxed out my SSD storage on day 1. And I think the XBox subscription is even better. I m

I got 12 weeks as a male at my mid size tech company. Vacation is "unlimited", which is often kind of a bad deal, but I do take about 6 weeks a year. Not sure how many holidays we have, but they just added several day off this yea

I'm coining GAMMA: Google - Apple - Meta - Microsoft - Amazon

by msikora 4y ago
This is good too, but that MAGMA the other guys suggest makes sense and is a real spelling of a word. I like it! Also GAMMA could be good: Google - Apple - Meta - Microsoft - Amazon

USA is pretty dystopian. I'm an immigrant from the EU, and like most of us here I work in tech where the wages and benefits are very good (wages quite a bit better than even the richer EU countries and benefits on par I would say). But

What exactly is insider trading? Last year, if I remember correctly, Facebook released “Messenger Rooms” and it tanked Zoom stock quite a bit when they announced this. If you were A Facebook engineer and loaded up on ZM puts just before the

> technological progress follows an exponential curve This is a mantra that I keep hearing, but if I compare the progress from 1900 to 1960 and then from 1960 to 2020, it almost seems like it has been flattening... Sure, we have internet

Exactly. This is literally chump change compared to how much did the pandemic cost the economy. This is a no brainer.

Do any of these darknet markets or services operators ever successfully "exit" to enjoy their ill-gotten spoils in retirement? Seems like they always get nailed in the end. Even the operator of Grams (darknet market search engine)

This was something that always boggled my mind how inept these guys sometimes were. In this business your life literally (and I mean literally) depends on good security and they would make some really rookie mistakes.

by msikora 6y ago
Most definitely a lot more than a regular software engineer. Alexandre Cazes was estimated to have a net worth of at least USD 23 mil, and that's a conservative estimate. This would all be in cryptocurrencies of course and you would ha

I'm loving Annapurna Interactive, games like What Remains of Edith Finch and Outer Wilds have been amazing. 'What Remains of Edith Finch' feels like a (shorter) AAA title, no compromise in production values whatsoever.
