I think he is missing the point on archives. Disappering/Nonstored is only a good thing in some contexts. There are several type of communication that I want to be secure but also archived for later reference or documentation.

Most of the time the computer I sit in front of is my company provided work computer. That is not a piece of hardware that I would use to access my (non work related) secure messaging platform.

You only needed Solaris for the server directly handling the sun rays. The host handling the actual sessions could be Linux, that's how my university was running most things when I started in 2001.
