No. It had nothing to do with RTO and PCR was not an alternative. There was a federal policy (not legislated btw, just an EO for all the people complaining about Trump using EOs to undo previous EOs) that said any company with federal contr

1) You said this was "the most oppressive policy." I gave two examples of more oppressive polices. 2) The vaccine mandates were enforced by having employers fire you for failure to comply with it. It was actually pretty terrible.

I use a gpd win max2. I think they have a smaller device with an optional built-in LTE card now although it has worse battery life (this one isn't great.) In retrospect I think I would have preferred something with a small celleron CPU

The vaccine mandates were far more oppressive, and I'd argue the individual healthcare federal mandate was also far more oppressive. this only affects non-citizens. If the federal government were going around asking for citizens social

It's a little dumb to just ignore it. People on Visas are guests, it makes sense to ask questions like this that wouldn't ask ordinary citizens. We have been way too relaxed with it and it's nice to see some changes.

Laptop battery packs used to use standardized metric battery cells (tool batteries often still do.) Those aren't very space efficient though. Still. The cells they do use are all going to be the same voltage since the chemistry is the

You have to click the red arrows a couple times then go through the rotating door. I don't remember struggling with it much as a kid tbh. I've thought about what I used to do with computers before and realized I used to have way m

Holy cow that's incredible. I remember playing this when I was ~6 on Windows 95 and being able to walk around and everything was so cool. Now it runs in the browser. The decomp approach seems surprisingly effective. I know someone else

I think you'd be surprised how a little bit of difficulty can be enough to break binge cycles. I killed both my hackernews and reddit addictions years ago by just adding them to /etc/hosts. It was easy to change and sometimes

Apple has developed language models with the intention of doing this. It's the leadership not the tech.

Sure. E2EE is a no op but it's ok because you trust them. At that point I'll just send an email though because I don't need to convince people to install apps.

Marble-QT works fine for OSM maps on Linux, if you run gpsd you can even use a GPS receiver and have the pin move around with you, I used this to help survey some land I bought recently. Google Maps's search/review works fine on t

Apple's ML team is very good, they do amazing things with very little. There's no shortage of tech or talent, there's a shortage of vision in the leadership. This won't solve that.

Yeah there was no good reason for that. The main thing I liked about Trump is that he didn't start any wars his first term, if he gets us into a war I'm going to be fucking mad.

In my experience that choice is available but choosing to leave it off means choosing not to use the service so it may as well not exist. Unless they allow you to bring your own client E2EE is a no-op.

The insistence that you use their automatically updated smartphone client makes the E2EE practically a no-op.

The bluetooth headphones I have on now have an assistant button. Supposedly it sends something like an HSP/AVRCP event to activate it although I haven't set any of that up since I'm on Linux.

It's just email and gpg so you'll get the same spam you do normally. IMO people freak out about spam way too much. I'd rather have something that works with occasional spam than have to put up with the insanity of modern IM.

I often play games from the 90s from before I learned to read. IMO often they're better than modern games including their own remakes. Every good game has odd control schemes, that doesn't mean it's worn out.
