Speaking of phosphors, early Photoshop had a setting to pick what you were using. These adjusted RGB balance according to published or measured values. https://twitter.com/gingerbeardman/status/154371808662010265.

You're quite right, the screen would be centred with margin/border around it. Whilst the CRT is 9", according to period repair guides the screen should be adjusted so that the visible image was 7.11" x 4.75", pretty

Personally I think Bruce Lee is a cool looking game. Like a playable diorama. And with Macintosh web though the CRT was about 8.5" x 6.25" (1.36:1) the recommended active area (according to period repair guides) was 7.11" x 4

Great interview. I'm open minded to philosophy and the space between things. I need to re-read Lao Tzu.

I agree. Whilst it's great to see a mention of PC-98 the article views it through a very odd lens, and gets a lot of things confused or even just plain wrong.

You might try, on hardware or emulation: Poco (modern macOS), Blue Paint (classic Macintosh), NewtPaint (Newton), MoePaint (Palm), CHEESE 2 (MSX), Airbrush (PC-100), Ink Pot (PC-88), ESQUISSE, Multi Paint System, Z's STAFF (PC-98), Gra

Not in Japan, you can see how the dithering was done in the video I link below, which was taken from promo footage of one of the most famous period Japanese paint apps for PC-98: Multi Paint System (1992, by Woody_RINN). The artist would pa

If you think of tinnitus being a frequency (let's assume it's one for this example, but this all holds for multiple frequencies and losses) that is persistent, whatever you listen to will have that frequency masked or removed: you

I use Lua & Love2D to make games with a similar ethos. Being able to set my own constraints is fun, and that's what game dev is about for me. As soon as something stops being fun, I know I'm doing it wrong and there must be a

It depends on the country the funds originate. Some countries have tax treaties each other. So it can be complicated. The easiest way is to get an accountant to deal with it. Then you can spend your valuable time building more stuff.

Thanks to the author for writing about their exploration and learning. I'm also of the mind that user interface designers should dig deep into the past: System 7, RISC OS, BeOS, OS/2, Amiga OS, FM Towns, X68000, GEM, etc. So much
