Had the same experience. Mozilla source & build are a mess.

Incriminating videos don't originate from the incriminated person. They can and will be anonymous and no amount of signing is going to help with deep fake videos. All you can do is claim that this video is not from you, which doesn

How would crypto solve deep fake? You're generating new fake content, nothing to crypt here.

Modern web browsers are the single best thing for security. I'm not going to install hundreds of apps from hundreds of sources.

Ever since I've tried to modify and run Firefox on windows, I'm not surprised anymore that it isn't bigger. It's a mess to work with and we quickly gave up on it.

> Claiming the Apple primary role in this is ridiculous. It's apple that didn't want SPIRV and insisted on something else, preferably text based. Doesn't matter who is doing that something else now, it's done because

Apple refused to support SPIRV, which Chrome (and Firefox?) already implemented, and lobbied for a text based language. Please read the minutes, I'm not going to look it up for you.

I just wish it had support for double and int64. So much great stuff that you can do with 64bit atomic operations that aren't possible with 32 bit atomics.

It absolutely is driven by Apple. I've been following this for a while. I actually like having a text based shader format since I do a lot of dynamic shader generation and compilation at runtime, but I don't quite understand why i

JS uses doubles by default, so no. There were times when js rendering engines used Float32Arrays for matrix and vector math because they should be faster since that's what the GPU uses, right? Turned out they were SIGNIFICANTLY slower

That may be a nice addition to the "do expression" proposal for javascript: https://github.com/tc39/proposal-do-expressions let x = do { let tmp = f(); tmp * tmp + 1 }; Unfortunat

Works great for most things. Things can get a bit complicated for scenes/models with large coordinates and 32 bit floats, but that's not something that fixed precision integers/decimals would solve. An easy way to solve these

For applications that's fine. I'm mostly refering to traditional websites/forums that should never do this.

I prefer Chrome due to it's developer tools and because its DataView implementation is a whooping 40x faster than Firefox's. I use DataView a lot.

And a proper DataView implementation. Currently, DataView is around 40 times slower in Firefox than in Chrome.

Glad I'm not the only one. I was a Java dev for many years and also used it for private projects. When they started shipping unwanted malware together with Java was when I decided to remove Java from my toolset.

99% of all web pages are noise, solely created to extract as much as possible out of ads and trackers. The internet would be a smaller but far far better place without them.

Mostly due to the way it's used for performance reasons. You can take other typed languages and pass around object information in byte buffers instead of structs as well, and subsequently lose all your type checking.

It's also one of the reason I try to keep phones for as long as possible until buying a new one. I loathe all that bloatware and hate dealing with it with every brand new one.
