That's a fair point. But have you considered that maybe Harlem would be hard pressed to find investors, even if the investors got a Visa? It would only take away investment from other areas if a) all the investment visa spots are fully

Why aren't sales people paid hourly? Incentives are better aligned when you get a percentage of the contract value. Not completely aligned (the real estate agent is going to be optimizing for deal-flow, not absolute highest price), but

That’s not what’s going on at all. You think that if Hudson Yards wasn’t built, Harlem would somehow get all that money? That’s not how it works, it’s not a zero-sum game.

I’m not sure what is so bad about this. Hudson Yards got money, investors got visas. Why is this a problem? It’s not like it’s taking investment from low income nrighborhoods: it’s not a zero sum game.

spacemacs is for vim users. No one who doesn’t use evil mode uses it. Also most people who use evil-mode probably use spacemacs. Emacs keybindings are burned into my brain at this point, but if I had to do it again, I would probably go with

The best emacs mode I’ve ever used is org-mode. Inline LaTeX rendering, inline images, outlines, TODOs, it’s amazing. And when you add yasnippet in to the mix, it gets even better. I can write up math notes faster than someone could write i

Are you saying that you shouldn’t be able to consider skin color in movies or tv shows? Because that would be pretty ridiculeous.

cocaine and meth don’t have withdrawels. alcohol, benzos, and opiates do. I’m not sure you could agree that one group is “harder” than the other.

I work in finance a good number of people are popping pills and doing lines in the bathroom all day long. It’s a little rarer, but a not insignificant group of people are doing heroin as well. I used to be addicted to the stuff and ended up

They occasionally do, but it’s not really worth it. Companies have different needs and it would be pretty absurd if the government was trying to ensure that there was ethnic diversity in, say, a stereotypical hip hop music video.

Astonishing? They own the means of production, you are the means of production. But let me give you an example of how these sort of laws have severe unintended consequences: In some states it is illegal to ask a potential hire if they have

What funds are those specifically? Certainly not the S&P 500. The Russell 3000, but they don’t have a choice. The point of investing is deciding what you believe in (financially speaking)! If you don’t like Uber, make some money on it!

It's pretty trivial to implement like a 10 line FFT algorithm in haskell in probably an hour or so. Had to do it back in school. So I'm not exactly sure about what is so simple about this.

I mean, you could say the same thing about the assets of a hedge fund. But it turns out that if you want to, you can convert most assets to cash. Of course, the more quickly you want to convert, the more money you lose.

Personally, I think FF and Gecko are superior to Chrome in most ways. Better and more powerful add-ons, less memory usage, and faster performance. Before quantum, FF kind of sucked, but now it’s amazing. Also I haven’t noticed many situatio
