I mean, not really. I knew plenty of people buying new mcmansions on credit when their household income wasn’t above 80k. Many many Americans over leveraged themselves by buying up huge properties with no down payment.

You actually think that’s how the world works?

There’s no way either statement you’re saying ia true. Clojure is certainly not “incredibly popular.” And if you think many people are scared away from the JVM vs the BEAM, I don’t even know what to say.

There’s Akka. Also Scala has Future’s. Both are very similar to green threads.

I mean, sure why not? CL can be about as fast as C if all you care about is performance. Also macros might get you faster than C, for the same reason that C++ can be faster than C (compile time metaprogramming).

Yeah, it got placed by C by the suits though. When you think about it, Lisp is perfect for their use cases. Pushing patches live without rebooting and easy modification of a running system image while running.

I’ve always wished that Mezzano made the desktop look more like the lisp machines. I’ve always liked how Genera looked.

In most places riding on sidewalks is illegal. I always get pissed when I see bikes hogging my sidewalk and almost hitting me.

Biycling on the sidewalk is illegal in most places. And for good reason. In cities the differential between the speed of bikes and cars is smaller than between bikes and pedestrians.

Many people (including myself), don't want a laid back work culture. I want to kill myself for the firm, and work as hard as humanly possible. I think I just derive the most happiness from working (though I do like drinking as well). I

Unless you are an expert in the field, I'm not sure why I should believe you. Of course companies are going to publish only results that look good. But a lot of scientists are going the pre-registered route, and claiming that hundreds

Python has Lists (arrays), Dict, and Sets. That's pretty much it. There's no linked lists. There's no sorted maps, no sorted sets, no maps that preserve insertion order, no queues, no priority queues, no bitsets. And there&#x

I have also found Python’s stdlib to be laughably bad. Just compare the data structures available to Scala. I write Python everyday and honestly, it’s a chore. The language is primitive and inexpressive. The sad part is that it totally didn

I wonder how Racket would compare. I’ve written some DSLs at an old job for Racket and found the libraries for language design almost unreasonably powerful (and maybe unreasonably complicated as well). The dynamic typing would also help in

I don’t have kids but when I get really angry and step away from the situation I often get into a loop and my emotions spin out of control. Say I’m really angry at my wife. If she leaves me alone after an argument I might go crazy for hours
