Sadly many companies do the same thing, violating the GDPR, even EU-based companies who know better. I wonder if engineers who built and have knowledge of these systems could anonymously disclose/leak details of violations to a site pa

The first picture that I saw [1] happened to be a building I used to work in. That gave the game away a bit. [1] https://thisimagedoesnotexist.com/images/130.jpeg

It's somewhat sad that in the US there is no enforcement (probably entirely deliberately as a protectionary measure) of food marks. In the EU, "Parmesan" cheese must be legit Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. [1] I'd presume t

I don't think anyone in this thread (at least anyone with experience of NL) is really in agreement with the parent article's point that Almere is particularly good. It's just an average-ish Dutch city. But even average Dutch

>I love biking, but it's a bit shortsighted to think that bicycling in urban areas can replicate the same benefits of a city that is well designed for walking. That's exactly the point, in the Netherlands it can and does. Somet

>You can't design a city for both walking and bicycles. Your assertion shows that you have never visited a Dutch city. Most Dutch cities were originally designed for walking (they are old, at least in the core), then (like most plac

I'd add to your comment by emphasising that Westland is a super intensive agricultural area with tons of dense greenhouses, trying to eke out as much production out of a small area as possible (and doing pretty well at it).

Building new trains is always great, but I'm curious why they chose to go for what appears to be a small loading gauge, thus preventing them from using shipping containers. I was under the impression that containerisation and palletiza

I completely agree with the assertion that it's easier to hire normal devs vs no-code devs. I used to work at a company building one of the bigger low-code platforms (Mendix). Lots of our platform was "dogfooded", i.e. built

The point is to use it for existing energy consumption, and only then start increasing energy consumption. If you add X GW of green energy to your Y GW of non-green energy, and then increase your usage by X, then the impact on the planet is

If Meta were to build enough new, carbon neutral, and green energy facilities to supply triple the energy costs of their facility and sell the remainder to the grid, I don't think anyone would have much of a problem with the facility.

With respect, this implies that you are not very good at cooking. You can make delicious, quick and easy food both with meat and with vegetables. If you try and cook a steak like vegetables, you will have poor results. If you try and cook v

I'm only familiar with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany - there are basically zero toll roads here. The occasional bridge or tunnel is tolled, but they are very much the exception as opposed to the rule.

I think it's important to emphasis that this is only the American public. Many other countries _do_ prefer to fund public transport with general taxation. And things are much saner as a result: high quality public transport and bike la

That could well be the case, and I would personally argue that that is a good part of the problem. For example, in Europe, it's quite normal for lawmakers to cycle or take public transport to the office. Obviously, some/most of it

This system seems quite stupid. Surely the expenditure could be better invested in public transit. Not only is public transit orders of magnitude more effective in terms of people moved per hour, it's also much more equitable.
