Shouldn't it be embarrassing for Dell to release a phone that looks like a poorly made iPhone? Have they no shame?

We've been very happy with Google apps. It's nice not to have to think about infrastructure at all. It just works. We run our own instance of Trac and svn on a slicehost slice, which is relatively painless to maintain. Using github or bitbu

Very cool, windsurfer! I like the subversive undertones, as well. :) Hopefully we'll have our bot API ready for public consumption soon. I'll let you know. We've taken most of our UI cues from irssi, so I bet our interface, although it's a

I see what you mean now. Multiple rooms are definitely overkill for just a few people. The three of us also just use one room right now. However, my last startup grew to about 30 people, and at that point, multiple rooms were a necessity. W

Thanks for checking it out. We have a search feature under development. I agree that search is key for this type of tool. I'd be interested to hear what you use the desktop client for. We have been thinking of creating one simply for DM ale

I have to add a somewhat shameless plug here, because my startup is tackling exactly the set of problems he's discussing here. We really believe that Yammer's model is somewhat flawed, and in our experience an enhanced "internal IRC" mode

Jeff failed to point out the most absurd aspect of the blog post he quotes: balking at new technologies because they make life easier. Isn't that the entire point of technology? How can you be in a tech field and maintain that attitude? I t

It's cool that people are pulling this off, but I can't help but wonder if they're asking the wrong question: "can we?" instead of "should we?" Maybe this is just meant as a proof of concept. In that case, it's great. But if it's meant to b

Radiohead has proven to be ahead of the curve in the music industry, yet frankly I'm surprised to see this coming from a "real band" first. Pop artists generally pay big name producers for 2 to 3 tracks per album, which they plan on releasi

I'm sorry, but that web site looks absolutely horrible. Can the nation's CTO not be held to the same standards to which we hold "Review my startup" posters on HN every day? Certainly his budget is many orders of magnitude larger. Of all the

Anything that keeps mechanics honest is a great idea in my book. However, I think this misses the crux of the problem: diagnosis. It's easy enough for me to call a mechanic or two to find out how much they would charge to replace my transmi
