Considering the tiny form factor, I suspect it will come with the CPU. (Think of it as a small laptop. Fiddling with the heatsink/fan assembly is probably going to be quite tricky in the NUC.)

Differential GPS doesn't work indoors, I thought? The main problem is that wireless signals simply aren't reliable. You could "boost" GPS indoors, but that doesn't get around the fact that there are corners, concrete walls, mirrors, humans,

Yep -- lots of phones support IPv6 on the WiFi stack, but not cellular. I don't think it's particularly hard to add IPv6 support tho -- probably just a software tweak in most cases.

Aye, very good point -- I'll update the story to reflect that. I still think it's surprising that there are very few computers that are _really_ cheap (like the Raspberry Pi). The difference in computing power/packaging size/etc between 198

Aye, the fact that no official announcement has been made is telling, I think. I suspect it's more likely that MS simply doesn't _know_ if it's going to provide a WP7>WP8 upgrade path. FWIW, WP8 is really quite different from WP7 -- as

Well, I guess if you (unwittingly?) buy a stolen phone, the feds would want IMEI tampering to be illegal? I assume there's lots of bulk IMEI tampering done by fences, too.

If this is implemented in the US, and enough privacy safeguards are put in place, I'm sure it'll spread to the EU and then the rest of the world.

Redis can store binary data -- and YouPorn's Redis cluster apparently handles 300K queries per second. Those queries obviously aren't all page views (the site only peaks at 4000 PVs per second). Why can't you store video in a database? YouP
