Which APIs are those? A bug filed at https://bugs.winehq.org/ might get some attention.

A bulky but reliable option is the $29 Apple “Thunderbolt (1) to Gigabit Ethernet adapter” connected to the $49 Apple “Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter”. It’s gigabit and PCIe using the rock-solid BCM570x chip.

Something also cool that's not widely known: Rosetta emulates i386 instructions. CrossOver/Wine uses this on macOS to run 32-bit Windows EXEs. I haven't tested yet whether this functionality works on Linux.

Apple’s public/external-facing uses of C++ are restricted and odd (MSL, IOKit), but internally it seems pretty common in the OSes. Dyld, font rendering, and lower-level event handling (the remains of Carbon/HIToolbox) are all thin

It always seemed weird that Apple was buying an MDM service (without shutting it down immediately). I guess it was an acqui-hire for Business/School Manager, and they waited until those were fully running before shutting down Fleetsmit

Do you know anything about the rumor that an O2 successor was prototyped that used NVIDIA graphics? (I think I read that on Nekochan long ago). The slow pace and poor execution of CPU and graphics architectures after ~1997 is crazy to think

For this Apple one it was a pressed DVD, would it be possible for those to be uniquely identifiable? AMPAS has almost 10,000 members, presumably at that scale it makes sense to have pressed DVDs made. For screeners just sent out to certain

There's some mentions of (classic) Mac and RAVE support in the code, but I don't remember any mention of PowerVR cards, games, drivers, etc. on the Mac back in the day. Anyone else?

It works totally fine, the hardest part is finding a (legal) copy of SLS (if you care about that). I run CodeWarrior on SLS on top of Fusion on Mojave.

Based on what they’ve done, I guess the answer is no. My company was shipping (somewhat niche) software linking with the built-in python2 up until last year though, and it’s been a scramble since Monterey to rebuild things to avoid the warn

That’s true if they’re using it from the command-line, but not if they’re using apps that linked against the system SDK’s libpython2.7.dylib (and assumed PyObjC would be present)

Development tools for classic MacOS cost money too, since they were commercial software like anything else. Metrowerks CodeWarrior, Lightspeed/Symantec C/C++/Pascal, even Apple’s own Macintosh Programmers Workshop.

Weird. I'd check to see if a beta profile is installed ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203282 ), if that doesn't work then use a Mac or PC to update it.

I’m also running Mojave, and am still getting Firefox updates. Not sure why you aren’t, and I think their stated support back to 10.12 is still accurate.

Java is only used in the App Store upload tool, I suppose you’d need to build an untrusted project and then upload it to the store? Not very likely.
