Apparently (think I read in the Langewiesche feature) the plane ended up in such a deep stall that the flight control software started ignoring the AoA sensor data (as implausible) and the STALL warning stopped. But when the co-pilot stoppe

Also: the Carbon API set is only supported on 32-bit, and removing 32-bit means all of Carbon can go away. Carbon is a massive API set, with one or sometimes two full legacy APIs (often dating back to the 90s) for everything. Drawing (Quick

I seem to remember a WWDC session from a few years ago (the one where dyld 3 was first introduced) where they said that dlclose() is now essentially a no-op on macOS, since it’s rarely done, the benefits are few, and the possible problems a

Yep, it's amusing that both these APIs recycle the names of what Mac OS X's parents used (DriverKit for NeXTSTEP, and the infamous System Extensions of classic Mac OS). Obviously no technical recycling going on though; the new Dri

Correct, and the AoA disagree indicator will be added to every plane (for free) as part of the MCAS software fix.

No 737 has 3 AoA vanes, and it’s extremely unlikely they’ll ever change the design to accommodate that. Every MAX will have an indicator to show if they disagree though.

The problem here is not a software bug—-the software performed as designed, the design was just bad.

The current iPhones with eSIM support also have a normal nanoSIM slot, nothing stopping you from using that instead. eSIM doesn’t take away any flexibility or functionality.

I think the MAX 10 landing gear changes allow for a higher rotation angle (without tailstrike) on takeoff/landing, not actually increasing the engine-ground clearance. Also the MAX 10 hasn’t been built or certified yet, I’m sure there

MCAS can only activate when flaps are raised, it shouldn't cause any unexpected trim changes during landing. This is why the Lion Air flight had a normal takeoff/climb until they raised the flaps.
