Yes, they've added an interface for this. The latest tech preview of VMware Fusion is using this interface rather than their own kext: https://blogs.vmware.com/teamfusion/2020/01/fusion-tp20h1-in...

Kernel extensions being deprecated is not news (it was announced at WWDC). The only real new info in this post is that 10.15.4 will pop up warning dialogs when loading the certain types of kexts that have replacement APIs available.

This is not accurate. This version of Wine can’t run 32-bit Windows apps on 10.15, but 64-bit apps do run. Also, CodeWeavers CrossOver can run 32 and 64-bit apps on 10.15.

I think it's just low supply. They were quite expensive so not that many existed to begin with, and then the last generation of SGI MIPS machines were largely cleared out by companies and academia in the mid-late 2000s. Anything left f

I missed that when it happened, too bad. OpenBSD's sgi hardware support is much better than NetBSD's (although that I guess the reason is that they used an Origin 350 for builds, but the disk controller driver had a bug causing lo

Boeing still may rebrand the plane and stop calling it the MAX, as you say it was only ever a marketing name. The plane is certified as the “737-8”, “737-9”, etc.

I suppose you should never blindly trust the competence of an ISP-provided router, but I would expect it to automatically block all incoming IPv6 traffic unless you explicitly add forwarding rules. You can always enable v6, then see if you

True, it does look like Apple provides support for the current and last two releases. 10.12 Sierra got its last (ever) security update at the end of September.

Yep, deprecated in 10.14 in favor of Metal. I expect it to be like OpenGL, where the existing functionality will stay around in maintenance mode for years to come but never improved. https://developer.apple.com/library/

Can you point to evidence that Apple is rejecting anything from being notarized? I haven't seen any. And sandboxing is completely orthogonal to the fine-grained revocation that notarization allows for. A sandboxed app could still be ma

And Apple has stated that they're fine with that: you can disable SIP and Gatekeeper. But for 95+% of Mac users, who only want to run software from reputable sources, these are good steps.

It’s worth noting that a patch around 2 months later removed the Equation Editor entirely, because more security issues were found and binary patching wasn’t going to be sufficient.

It’s more the 20-year old Carbon API set (parts of which are 30+ years old like QuickDraw) than x86 itself. Apple doesn’t get to drop x86 support from Intel’s silicon (like they did with 32-bit ARM on iOS).
