I saw Marques Brownlee's video on solar roof tiles and it seems to solar roof tiles are a real thing -- though not sure about the SolarCity relation. I think it wouldn't hurt to view Elon as a parroter of information in this case,

On CVE I see a fact-oriented bug tracker style database of CVE issues with a schmorgus board link/reference barf on each CVE page, but on the OP site I see a really well presented (with videos, faq, paper) description of the issue? It

I visited a few common sites and they seem to use HTTP/2. I'm not sure the point of arguing it's not fundamental, a cursory glance shows HTTP/1 is bottlenecked by not being able to use the same TCP connection to serve mu

DNS lookups are themselves alarming no? Why would you resolve a hostname and not, like, use that IP for something? Maybe some argument of pre-emptive hostname resolution but even in Ubunutu you can turn off the chatty background OS DNS reso

I would still use version control since it's literally a zero cost addition and can help with things like bisecting issues. Sometimes I do mini self code reviews via "git add -p" anyways too. Plus it's easier to copy the

There is nuance here you are passing by. This is a classic influence pump and dump, these sort of scams make their rounds in various shitcoins all too often. It is a good thing you are hearing about them, because they are being caught. Don&

Induction proofs are indeed useful, the strongest argument for learning these sort of formal tricks, is you can convince another human that your algorithm correct with pure math. It's one thing to say, look, my program's test suit

I think they are using automation in detecting "violations" perhaps, given the other commentors did seemingly no-op updates and resolved things -- and any pushback would show the wizard behind the curtains, so they keep it vague a

I upgraded from 1gbe to 2.5gbe and kept the same price. I think offsite backups and even faster downloads/uploads (when I do download) are the biggest wins. Going from 1->2.5 is a roughly ~2.2 speedup for me. I doubt most servers su

I have the Kingnovy 2.5gbe one (4 i226 ports and n6005 cpu), on baremetal (128gb nvme and 16gb ram) and not using vm yet but I think you could without problems (~<25% cpu usage during speedtests -- and hardware offloading is disabled by

This is just a switch but similiar 2.5gbe routers can run pfsense or opnsense with i225/i226 chips and intel/amd cpus. Servethehome covers quite a few of them.

C and gotos are common from what I've seen -- userspace and kernel C code deals with error handling and resource freeing easier that way. Open to see examples of (good) C code that doesn't use it though.
