The risk isn't attendees dying, the risk is spreading a disease faster that we don't have the medical capacity (as a country) to handle. It's roughly like getting a vaccine, slowing the spread will help vulnerable people.

If your company is getting shopped to 43+ other companies, it's not a very strong position. This seems like KPMG responding to their incentives: sell the company and make like $250k, or don't sell the company and make "the bi

Boring cynicism is boring. Tailwind has been great for me as a non designer. If the components are as helpful as just the css has been, $150 will seem like a steal. And “design of css classes” isn’t something that seems very important.

There’s a lot to dislike about Tulsa, but the entire country is culpable for those kinds of problems. The biggest cities in the US _still_ systemically oppress black people.

(Hi, I'm from fly.io) It depends what you need in your datacenters! If you just want servers, and don't care about doing something like anycast, you can find a bunch of local dedicated server providers in a bunch of cities and go

I think yc would consider all those acquisitions you mentioned to be failures. One of the best things about yc is they are happy to get behind interesting projects built by interesting people and see what happens.

Wow thanks! It's pretty cool you noticed some of this stuff. :D It's partially that the big CDNs caught up, and partially that we have the luxury of not having to worry about a big legacy CDN. This iteration in particular has felt

Hello HN! This is the most fun thing I've worked on in a long time. We basically figured out how to pull down Heroku slugs, turn them into Docker Images, and then deploy them as Firecracker MicroVMs on our servers. All to make a "

I think you might actually be devaluing it by coupling pricing to page loads. The value of a comment system is more in how many people use it and how many comments they make.

Eh, I think it’s probably better to take that comment at face value. What if the person who posted it is suffering through the effects of a miscarriage right now? This isn’t the same as “all lives matter”

We (fly.io) use Deno pretty intensely. We really like: * No npm spaghetti, just requiring a URL is a win * It'll build a lightweight static binary. Usually way smaller than the equivalent node Docker image * The stdlib and every commun

I don't understand why you're minimizing a partners' feelings in this way. Yes it's absolutely worse for a woman who miscarries. But partners can and do suffer trauma (and, weirdly, post partum), and frequently just bury

A bunch of my friends have had miscarriages, and this seems so common. I can't imagine the trauma and I get not wanting to celebrate. And you know what? I think it's ok to not celebrate. We had a very stressful pregnancy (we were

That sounds so much different if you phrase it as "if you're born in the wrong place, don't be surprised when you reap less benefits". Most people don't choose where they live.
