It may be useful (perhaps even necessary) if you have to be on AWS. But it is a systemic problem however. Lot of these services have "need to launch something" sticker attached - so AWS keeps adding layers over layers and end up w

lol. This really is the issue. AWS certifications are great way to know how services can be over engineered. Adding seemingly complex solutions to "prove" technical worthiness is an Amazonian thing

I love this post! Mainly because it resonates with me 100% and aligned with my thinking, as I go build my startup.

I have seen shit reviews by PEs who are so far away from customers and nitpick things that don't matter. It is almost as if they carry the burden to prove their PE-worthiness and hence need to find something to assert their technical p

This is great self awareness that can lead to invincibility. This is how I approach (so it is not an advice for "you" personally). Be a Stoic. First, start with the understanding that you can only control your thoughts and emotion

This really is the issue. When you have no informed opinion, it may be better to start with monolith. This Microservice culture was all about "let me reduce the design complexity by using MS"

I would argue Microservices trade 100% design complexity with 100% operational complexity and 20% design complexity. Everytime I saw a microserviced design, I always wondered how would they debug this easily and re-operationalize it. Some

Do you know if there are startups that specialize in helping startups go through this ? I got one reference below that I am going to look into more. If your reference can be shared, pls do

I didn't mention this. I am implementing the idea btw (and not waiting for it) and will have a MVP to demo, irrespective of what I do with the protection angle. It was more around what to do when I do set customer demo's.

>>>you must be making enough to afford a long lawsuit Valid point. It's possible that I am overestimating the value. I don't have enough data to claim otherwise at this point.

Thank you so much! This was very helpful. DIY "provisional patent application" feels like a good insurance. If there's something of worth, you file an year later. If you get no customers, the idea was dead anyways and I assum

yes, it's SaaS. I must add it's not just big players. Other competitors (with lot of funding) could potentially "execute" what my platform does. yes, it is not trivial - but it is also not that hard for someone who knows

Would you need to create a new set of text embeddings ? Do you know if it could be done cheaply ?

Any pointers on how to build custom embedding ? I am working on a specialized domain where words may mean different things than rest of the world. I want to create my own embeddings, which I suspect would help. Any pointers ?

Thanks for the feedback. The potential edge with Dolly is huge. Building a firewalled model with custom corpus is a big deal. I have been experimenting with openai and even with public data (but really limiting to the domain), yields great

Underrated comment. Lot of internal struggles can only be solved by internal examination. It is very difficult and takes tremendous courage, starting first with acknowledging the issue. So many comments claimed to have solved it and yet t
