BASH and Regular expression syntax are two things that mysteriously expire from my memory after two weeks. It’s almost comical.

Heh, ours also got curbed during “contactless” delivery. My wife watched it happen, went out and made the delivery specialist take photos and report it to his manager. We made an appointment and Tesla refinished the wheel. I’ve mentioned th

Bay Area here. My experience at recycling centers has always been quick and painless. Took over 60 lbs of cans and a bunch of scrap copper the other week. No line, no hounding.

I love Goodyear welt boots. I tend to only buy at Nordstrom anniversary sales, where boots such as 1000 Mile Wolverine or Redwing are often 30%+ off. I’m sure there’s cheaper deals for same brands, but the return policy makes it worth it in

I hear you. It’s only worse now. Even with everything is connected, if you haven’t played recently, there’s an hour of console/game updates to download before you can play. Or worse, you spend an hour f’ing with accounts trying to get

?? I spent 3 months studying there a while back. To me, Barcelona felt safer there than most large American cities that I’ve lived in. One “problem” was petty crime that seemed to mostly target tourists—-vigilance was indeed the solution… b

That’s exactly what we’ve done. Threw a HomeKit controlled plug behind it, added automations for it to be on when high probability of being used and off otherwise. Beyond that, it’s only a, “Hey Siri, turn on the printer” to start printing.

Sure, the strongest and most adaptable life forms survived each mass extinction event, but our planet itself is middle aged in its “lifespan” of being able to support higher life forms. We (as in life on earth, not just humanity) don’t have

25 years ago wasn’t any better… I recall several in my circle getting suspended for harmless things. The lesson: don’t explore, don’t be curious, and don’t try to fix anything related to the school and computers. Sigh.

Fascinating. I’m older, but not significantly, and I still end up writing a check every once every few months. Mostly related to kids’ activities.

Taking a slightly broader perspective of Siri as a simply a voice interface to the device, it has been incredible tool for two of my kids who are not neurotypical. For some who are differently abled, it’s not really about the convenience

This. 3 kids here in a 3 bedroom house (~1100sqft). One in high school, middle, and elementary. It works, although another 500sqft would give us some more breathing room. Since my boys are teenagers now, I spent the pandemic building a rath

I think there's a more nuance here. Focus is saying no -- agreed. Giving help increases surface area for serendipity and opportunity -- agreed. I don't see these as being mutually exclusive.
