You can update the software without pulling it down. In order to use the update you need to restart, but there's a large difference between restarting a service and restarting an OS. It isn't really analogous.

ASP.Net is going nowhere, the abomination known as Web Controls is on the way out (and good riddance). It will never go away, there's too much code and money involved, but it won't be used for new projects.

He directly referenced Linux which is famously under GPLv2. You can argue with this wording if you like, but his observation is spot on and it's obvious to those are not unduly biased that he was speaking about the GPL and the license

I disagree, Powershell is basically a way to script .Net. It has provider so you're able to hook into functionality throughout the OS, but Powershell really wants to be a first class .Net language (and it is).

his point remains. being forced to run 2 servers so your server doesn't go down once/month is a bit ridiculous. No, it isn't untenable, yes you can work around it, but that's a problem that shouldn't need to be wor

My experience with a lot of 'Javaheads' is that they get a little too emphatic about Java's optimizations, most especially the claim that it can out perform C. BUT In this case, to be fair, I took his statement to include H

Initially I disagreed with you until I thought about it for a second and realized Hex was technically an interpretation as well. You're mostly right, although I do think calling hex an interpretation is maybe not completely accurate.
