I grew up with an Apple Lisa, PowerBook 145 and 180 and later 180c, and then a Macintosh 638CD. Windows 95's release was during a pretty dark period for me as a Mac user. System 7 was pretty unstable and crashed frequently. I don'

I really loved this era of computing. I really want to go grab a Performa 6400 and load up Bryce and Metrowerks.

It's one car, so I don't want to pretend like it's every car, but certainly Tesla has earned a reputation at poor quality control. It seems obvious to me they optimize for factory output even at the cost of delivering a corre

Here’s the real problem. Apple will never intentionally prolong upgrade cycles for expensive laptops by offering you a cheaper device that can “do everything.” The iPad was conceived as a media consumption device, sitting between a phone an

Frustrating. I’ve put on literally no muscle mass at my VR gym. Frankly even when deadlifting supposedly 1,000 pounds, I felt nothing and immediately fell over backwards.

Agreed, really bizarre. Confusing because most people have never heard of Retool. Potentially misleading because to some it implies either a relationship or a very icky gimmick.

Are you really constantly amazed? iPhone user here. I don’t see my phone as a status symbol. I just like it much better. If you like Android better, that’s cool too.

"Not getting 100%" is a bit of a straw man argument. "Less than half" is significant, particularly when the CEO (to his credit) is calling it out as something that must improve. And it matters to balance the existing nar

As they say, it's not the tool, it's how the tool is used. After reading this, I cannot understand how this is better or even different from Slack. If people are disorganized, allow themselves to be distracted, distract others, st

I understand this reaction, but you're missing the point. It's precisely that the rendering engine is not what drives value; it's what you build on top of that sediment layer.

I love Elixir, Phoenix and LiveView. A drawback is the size of the community, and as a function of that, availability of libraries for various things. It is not bad. It is also not great. That said, the community itself deserves high marks

For what it’s worth, I left Fly because of this crap. At first my Fly machine web app had intermittent connection issues to a new production PG machine. Then my PG machine died. Hard. I lost all data. A restart didn’t work - it could not re

Yes, this. It's tough when you've already played your "we messed up but we're making it right" card, and then you continue to not have it right.

There are emissions in refinement, production, and charging. But if a vehicle runs on a battery, those lifecycle emissions can be improved as we did with the fleet itself. It decouples the car’s energy source from what the manufacturing pr

And as many of us have observed, the key isn't just the app or UI, it's that there are people there. With Threads, people are indeed there. Like it or not I think this means Bluesky is dead-on-didn't-arrive. Is it any surpris

A stock is a contract. Can you have a contract when money isn’t exchanged? Or, can you a price change (from $0.01 to $0.00) when presumably there’s no more liquidity? I’m going with no, a stock cannot go to zero.
