My wife 6s+ is still being supported? She complains constantly about the device randomly turning off itself last year. I changed the battery for her and hoped that Apple would stop patching it so she could let it go. Man, comparing to the s

Verizon sold Yahoo and AOL to Verizon for less than $5B today. The Hadoop ecosystem founded in Yahoo by Doug Cutting would probably cost a lot more than $5B in value today. I can’t wait to see how FAANG turns out in 10 years from now.

I want to go back 2-3 days a week. And I would stay home from Nov to Feb as I usually get sick around that time. The usual culprit is coworkers get sick and decided to come to the office. A week later I come down with the cold. Every single

I have synthesia and no, it’s not the same. This one requires you to know sheet music, a must have skill I you want to learn a piece quicker than rote memorization in synthesia. I used to refuse reading sheet music. But, thank goodnesses, I

You know, I have been language-hopping for over a year now, in hope to find a secondary language I could learn beside the bread-winner Java. Trying to strike the balance between productivity and performance is pretty hard. I tried Go, it lo

Does it feel weird that you have to enable Evil mode to use emacs? I have been using Vim for most my life and switched to emacs last years. I am using vanilla version with lots of plugins of course.

The culture of "Promotion-oriented development" is a dismay across this industry. My take is that the prospect of getting promoted to Principal/Staff SE is close to none if you are not aiming for a moon-shot project. Naturall

We had to port this to a servlet/Flex (remember Flash?) app with more scale required than a "few hundreds transactions" in VB.

“Low code”: reminds me of the horror of translating a VB app of a trader to Java in the late 90s for me.

Watching the PBS NOVA series “Finding life on Mars” I am so proud to see such an astounding diversity of ethnicities involved in the Mars 2020 projects. I can’t phantom any other countries would have inclusively included other ethnicities i

I got burned by Samsung devices one too many times: phones G2 to G5, security cameras, TV. Their software are all buggy and grinds the devices to a stop. My life became better once I got rid of all Samsung crap.

In the contrary, I find Poetry is pretty buggy comparing to pipenv. I am a casual Python coder for fun and ran into issues with Poetry following their intro document. With pipenv, I have not encountered any of the issues so far.
