Not necessarily. I used to always buy genuine HP cartridges, sold by Amazon (not a third-party seller,) with official packaging, non-tampered unbroken sticker on the box, and yet one day my printer reported a cartridge as "non-genuine&

Faster is always a good thing for a hashing primitive. For hashing passwords, you should not directly use a hashing primitive but instead stretch/iterate it through a higher-level algorithm, such as Argon2, that will (1) slow it do

You don't get it. The full benefits of Bitcoin are realized when you stay in the system. Receive BTC. Spend BTC. Avoid converting to fiat ("real money") when possible. As adoption increases[1] year-over-year it becomes increa

This sort of financial censorship is a textbook example of a problem perfectly solved by Bitcoin-class cryptocurrencies. A censorship-resistant digital currency may not be useful to you personally, but it's painfully obvious there ar

Grossly incorrect stats you gave here... There is only $6 million in capacity, not $6 billion. Daily transactions are more likely in the few hundreds per day, not tens of thousands. Although this can't be determined with accuracy.

For a fair comparison (fp64 vs fp64): « A single GPU card like the AMD Radeon MI60 has more computing power than year 2000 supercomputer ASCI Red (fastest supercomputer in the TOP500 list of June 2000): • MI60: 7.4 TFLOPS (FP64) • ASCI Red:

They get a 882x speedup because hashcat's heavily optimized implementation of luks1 (aes, cbc-essiv:sha256, sha1) on a R9 290x GPU really is 882x faster than cryptsetup's ordinary implementation of this algo which runs on a single
