This is a good rule of thumb, but web apps have the serious advantage of being (nearly, excluding differences between browsers) platform-agnostic. This saves development time as you pointed out but also allows easier cross-platform support.

I haven't used wx but at least one of the advantages is when exporting a project to .exe I assume you don't need to include the Qt libraries (i.e. .dll files) separately to conform with their licence, it can (legally) be in a sing
