Someone already mentioned it upthread, but I highly recommend playing "Kerbal Space Program" to gain a better intuition of orbital mechanics. I'm no rocket scientist but that game really helped me wrap my head around how thin

Assuming a city grid, wouldn't you have at most 2 turns to get where you're going (assuming start and end inside the grid)? Inside a city these dedicated bike lanes are great, especially with dedicated bike traffic lights. Obvious

Isn't that the point of such a system, to reduce traffic and still allow dedicated climbers to summit?

There was a great Black Mirror episode[1] about this concept, highly recommend. Obvious spoiler warning in the wiki page. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men_Against_Fire

+1 to this, coming from vim I found spacemacs' defaults pretty painless. I only use it for org-mode right now, still do most of my heavy editing in other tools but it's already been extremely useful for note-taking and todo tracki

I found the book 'The Righteous Mind' very eye-opening and it talks about exactly these things, I recommend it to all my friends. Particularly relevant to my own experience was the commentary on how politicians have become less co

Thanks for sharing that, it gave me a lot to think about. Always good to see things from another perspective.

Really? I haven't noticed this, admittedly I don't use it much. What's the best alternative on android?

Presumably because over a certain threshold, you're paying far more than you'd ever expect to receive back from the program in retirement? Not saying I agree with it but that's my guess as to the reason.

You should definitely give 5e a try! I only started at 3.5, but I love how much they streamlined the newest edition. It's much easier to DM and play, which leads to better stories imo

Same! I've tried the community, kde, and xfce isos on a second drive and have yet to achieve a bootable system. I'll probably tinker with it a bit more this weekend since Manjaro sounds like the perfect distro for me, but I'm

Have you tried this mod? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/84005-1... It was a game changer for me, and really made interplanetary transfers "click"

Second this, it gets rid of the most toxic/addictive part of facebook (the feed) and leaves all the good stuff. Great extension!

Jumper ( https://github.com/mpwoz/jumper ) It's a simple chrome extension to jump between top-level comments on hacker news using the arrow keys. I've been meaning to publish it to the extension store, but that

Thank you for sharing this. If anybody wants a tear in their eye, read this article while listening to his latest album. And, optionally, a glass of wine.

Not OP, but maybe "coding" is a better term: they are language-agnostic fundamentals that don't change as quickly as the tools and frameworks we use daily as "programmers"

This needs to be higher. You shouldn't use any of these tools just because people tell you to. If you can't see what problem something solves, then start at a simpler/lower level of abstraction until you run into that problem
