The funny thing to me is that he doesn't know that "desktop in a browser" functionality is not an incredibly complex thing for web apps anymore. It's a matter of having good enough client side development skills to implement it. Also, with

I agree. I'm surprised YC didn't suggest building some consumer facing app that makes use of your comet stuff. There are many application areas that could benefit from real-time capabilities. Also, Paul has talked about how turning a luxury

I think that anyone with a technical background would agree that technologies like comet are useful. But it seems like yc wanted you to differentiate comet from the other approaches. How would you even make money off comet based widgets or

My guess is that they want to get acquired by msft or any huge company that uses outlook and would have a use for inbox analytics (theres probably 1000's). In other words, I don't think they care about gentoo geeks and gmail users.

I totally agree with what you're saying. However, this is sort of surprising because the ceo is so outspoken about how msft products are such crap and are 2nd rate rip-offs. It's also funny because of the general Apple snobbery towards all

Bad move. Why in the world do they need 16.6 mil? I just cannot understand what kind of overhead is associated with another social-net, at their stage, that would require 16.6mm in capital!
