Observable makes it easy to fork notebooks and make modifications, so I'll be happy to see other parking arrangements! I made the viz for my real-world situation — reverse angle parking is quite common where I live (Ukraine), and it&#x

There's just one lane here — the thick line at the top is a barrier (a line of bollards).

Thank you! A fellow programmer Jacob even printed that viz as a woven textile — floating point errors can be very pretty :) https://twitter.com/jashkenas/status/1191829600214507520

It's easy enough if you have enough space, but in this case the road is so narrow that I can't move forward much in the second maneuver. I'm sure I'll figure out the right angles with practice eventually, the reverse tur

If you find any errors in the math, please let me know! I think the diagram supports your description — even with the wheel turned to the max, you will never hit anything close to the back wheel when reversing (both wheel axes are marked),

Note: I didn't create Mapbox GL, I'm just a part of the core team: https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-gl-js/graphs/contributors Don't have any particular OpenLayers examples in mind at the moment

I've used Kindles for 7 years now, it's by far my most beloved gadget and I don't go anywhere without it. And I love it just the way it is — a reader of books without any other distractions. The only thing I really wish they&

I don't think Amazon cares that much about Kindle sales — they made it deliberately way cheaper than other e-ink models when it was introduced. Their goal is to profit from book sales on their platform. I bought about a hundred electro

I think this is actually doable — the GFS data this project pulls from has a lot of levels, see for example here https://nomads.ncep.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/filter_gfs_0p25.pl?dir=...

I would really love to see your toy Mapbox renderer — please share it, even if unpolished! We'd benefit a lot from fresh ideas on how to improve Mapbox GL performance.

Yeah, it's a thin balance, and to me as someone without years of experience in graphics programming, GPU feels like such a blackbox — hard to predict what will be the actual bottleneck until you implement an approach fully, with real-w

Would love to learn more, since it seems counter-intuitive — are there any studies / benchmarks on this for modern hardware? Why would a uniform mesh with, say, 10x more triangles perform better if it's not updated often (e.g. a f

Everyone's hardware is different, so I've included notes about computational complexity of the algorithm in the notebook too.
