My son has been looking for an entry level position ever since graduating (last year, in 2024) with a Game Development degree at a pretty decent school. Right now he's teaching kids programming in an after-school program to keep from g

My previous employer stopped hiring in the EU (except for the UK, where they were based, and South Africa, where the CTO was from) because the labor laws there made it too difficult for them to fire people, which was a particularly troubl

Queue the old adage ... "Emacs is a great operating system, what it needs is a good editor." I'm not sure there is a rigid enough definition of IDE to say whether Emacs qualifies or not. I think it does by virtue of its exten

Nicolae Ceaușescu comes to mind? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolae_Ceau%C8%99escu#Death EDIT: One could argue whether the United Healthcare CEO assassination meets the criteria, too.

Last year I underwent treatments for my treatment-resistant major depression using Ketamine. It was a clinical setting, where you'd get wired up to blood pressure, pulse-ox, and other monitors while you were monitored by an RN via vide

I think it'll be someone pushing the boundaries of hip hop/rap/etc., it feels like there's still a lot more experimentation and unexplored stuff that can happen there. And most of the people on HN probably won't rea

I did something similar recently, trying to describe a piece of art that I couldn't remember the name of (it ended up being Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli) ... it really struggles with that sort of thing, but honestly so do most h

There are plenty of countries in East Africa ripe for this, unfortunately China is beating us there, too. Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania ... all are pretty well positioned right now for development, but rn China is mostly the one doing it. (Source
